April 29- 43 boats fished the first qualifier of 2023.  The anglers were met with rising waters in the Neuse and the Trent River backing up.  Conditions were tough for a lot of the anglers.  But, like always, someone caught em!  Congratulations to Robin Bowen and Monte Morgan on the win.  They brought 18.43 to the scales and had the big fish of the tournament with  a 6.55 pound bass.  Rick and Rickey Foss finished 2nd with 12.94.  Glenn and Kyle Smith finished 3rd with 12.41.  Full results can be seen by clicking the link below.

2023 is now complete.  An approaching cold front and a rapidly falling Neuse river made conditions tough for the 33 boat field.  Weights were low on day one with several boats in contention, but only three boats in the teens.  Jason Theis brought in 15.92 on Friday to lead the pack going into day two.  Brody Brown and Carl Whittington weighed in the big fish on day one with a 5.80 pound bass.  Weights on day two were still low due to tough conditions of an arriving cold front, but some anglers were able to grind it out for a good finish and Jason Theis was able to hold on to his day one lead when he weighed in a second 15 plus pound bag and secure the win.  His two day total was 31.41, and his day two bag was anchored by a 6.78 pound bass.  Jimbo and Colton Tyndall finished 2nd with 25.43.  Eric and Garrett Brown came short of winning two Classics in the same year by finishing 3rd with 24.51.  Eric and Garrett had the tournament big fish with a massive 7.73 pound bass.   The team of Glenn Smith and Kyle Smith finished 4th with 23.56 and Brian Boyd rounded out the top five with  22.56.  Full results can be seen by clicking the link below

The 2022 Classic was held April 7-8, 2023.  33 boats showed up to fish in less than ideal conditions.  Friday was windy with threats of rain and Saturday was downright brutal with highs in the low 50's with wind and rain all day.  Jordan Brown was the day 1 leader with 18.63 and also had the day 1 big fish with a beautiful bass weighing 6.58  Day 2 proved to be a different day for many of the anglers with some struggling and some having a great day.  Brown struggled on day 2 and only brought 4 fish weighing 6.87 to the scales dropping him to 6th place with a 2 day total of 25.50.  Brian Link and Dave Bell finished 5th with a total of 25.74.  Paul King and Bradley Stain finished 4th with 25.84.  Jason and Chase finished 3rd with a total of 26.07.  Antwan Moore and Antwan Moore Jr. were in second place after day 1 and remained in 2nd place with a total weight of 28.05.  Eric and Garrett Brown had the biggest turn around on the second day.  The team started day 2 in 9th place, but a Neuse River Bassmasters single day record was set when when they brought a giant bag of fish weighing 26.13.  Their bag was anchored by the tournament big fish, a 7.21 giant.  Full results can be seen by clicking the tab below.
