MARCH 25

Our first event tied our largest field to date with 57 boats, but low levels in the lower Neuse and Trent combined with changing weather patterns made getting bites quite difficult for the majority of the field.  Air temps began around 50* and increased to 78*, making for a nice day to be on the water.  Winds were SSW-SW 8mph.  Twenty-three limits were produced, and 16 zeroes recorded.  Teams weighed 2.88 bass / team for a 2.24# average fish weight.  Robin Bowen & Drew Jones edged the field by less than 1/10# to take home top prize of $930.  Teams of Jacob Brown & Josh Brown and Jason Theis & Chase Theis tied for the second best bag with the tie broken by the tournament Big Fish of 7.14#, a fish earning $570 alone.  Ramp payout was $2,850 and Classic Fund accrued $570.  Full results posted at the button below.

September 9

The regular season wrapped up with a 45 boat event marked by very tough conditions.  The Neuse was high and muddy, and the 10 mph NE breeze all but stopped the flow.  Air temps increased from a brisk 58* launch to 78* by weigh-in.  Water temps dropped to near 75*.  Only 22 limits were registered, and 14 zeroes.  Teams weighed 3.04 fish / team with a lower average fish weight of 1.92#.  JC Haddock & Mike Whitehurst swept the field with a 14.14# bag anchored by the tournament big fish of 4.77#, good for a total prize of $1170.  Brody Brown & Carl Whittington brought 13.02# to the scale, narrowly edging the 12.93# of Eric & Garrett Brown.  The teams earned $415 and $235, respectively.  Ramp payout was $1,800 and Classic Fund accrued $450.  Picture not yet obtained.  Full results posted at the button below.

September 29-30 **Championship**

The 2017 End of Year Classic fielded 42 of 50 qualified teams.  Northeaster conditions wreaked havoc on the bite, with Days 1 & 2 showcasing the best and worst these waters have to offer.  Loads of big bites were weighed Day 1, while Day 2 was a struggle to fill a limit.  All day cloud cover seemed to be the primary reason for the difference.  Day 1 air temps ranged from 66* to 77*, while Day 2 started a cool 58* and returned to 79*.  Water temps remained in the 70*s.  Winds both days were 8-10  mph NE gusting to 20 mph.  Eighteen 10 fish limits were registered, in opposition to 3 two day zeroes.  Teams averaged 3.70 fish per day of average 2.14# each.  After trailing Day 1 leaders Greg & Carl Milligan by a substantial 3+#, Jason & Chase Theis beat out another solid limit to complete an improbable come from behind victory, with a winning margin of a full 0.20#!  Their persistence paid off in the form of $1,905.  Greg & Carl Milligan failed to find a fifth keeper of any size that would have provided the win, but still managed a very close second with only 9 fish, good for $1,270  Rounding out the top 3, the team of Jacob & Josh Brown turned in the Day 2 big bag of only 12.13# to gain some ground and earn $762.  Day 1 Big Fish was scaled by Jimmy Hipkiss & Rusty Brown, weighing 6.30# and cutting a check for $420.  Likewise, Cary Berryman's Day 2 Big Fish of 3.64# also garnered $420.  In total, the 2017 Classic paid out $7,190.  Full results posted at the button below.
